U18G Bay Oaks Botafogo Captures Third State Championship

On Sunday April 26 at Bartholomew Field in Elk Grove, Botafogo clinched their Third and final State Cup Championship. Playing in the CYSA U18G Championship against Juventas, a team we failed to beat in last year’s final, our team fought into a second overtime golden goal period. In the 75th minute Botafogo pulled together, surging as a team, scoring on an Erin Greening cross to Franny Cerny whose quick cut and sharp shooting pulled out the exciting victory! The hero of the game was Ashlynn Jones who due a season ending injury to our keeper, volunteered to take on the responsibility even with very limited experience in goal. Ashlynn made a historic save that was captured for your viewing pleasure on the highlight reel in the first overtime period. For highlights: https://youtu.be/oHdt37qyQqY
