On Monday May 8th 2017, EBU-Bay Oaks partnered with i2i International Soccer Academy (Based in York U.K) to run a West Coast ID camp (use link below to their website). This is our first collaboration with a non-US based University and we feel proud and honored that we were considered to host. The concept of combining soccer with education is not new but the European model is different from the US model as the players are allowed to participate in a 10month season (much shorter in US due to NCAA rules) and in i2i’s case also have opportunities to play with a semi-pro club Tadcaster Albion, whom they own.

This is an especially proud day for me as i2i Head of Player Development Jonathan Greening is a former Middlesbrough F.C  player who also played for Manchester Utd. He was part of their treble winning side in the late 1990’s.

In addition, i2i Academy Head Andy Milne played for my former club Darlington FC (on loan form Leeds United) and was be the main presenter on Monday night.

We felt it was an excellent opportunity for both parents and players to be exposed to an international student/athlete opportunity as they plan ahead post  H/S years. Indeed one of  our RR 98 players Max Peterson will be attending York St John University after graduating from Berkeley High this summer.
